It all started with a new T.V.

a big screen one that is. Those flat screens take up so much space I knew I wanted it off the floor on on the wall. The only place suitable was above the fireplace. But, no cable outlet, no plug. So, the jigsaw came out and then there was a chunk cut out of the drywall, clear across the middle of the wall, in order to get the power and cable right where we wanted it. Then I went out of town.

Spencer was going to patch the wall, and give the room a fresh coat of the same colour we had. Except...it's 'builder beige' (that's what we call it). And this is the third home we've had that has been new or newly renovated and painted the same old 'builder beige'. And S decided he could not, in good conscience, paint in 'builder beige' so he picked a new colour all on his own (and with some help from McLean and the nice ladies at the paint store). He picked grey. GREY!!!! Let me tell you our house is open concept, so now, part of my kitchen, the living room, the hallway and front entrance were all going to be grey. On the westcoast, with all our rain, I could not live with all grey, so another colour we searched for, to add to the palette.

Already we had a light green and a blue green in the kitchen/dining room, so what would go with it, the art we have, the furniture we have, etc.etc.
So, back to the paint stor,e with a picture from our wall and a bowl from our dish set, we went and out we came with ORANGE. A very bold choice, and as I speak S is just cutting in, but already I love it. Will post pics of the room when all is complete. Until then, the swatches is all you have to try and imagine what is going on at our house.
