Namesake

Nanny and Lucy, September 2008

Everytime I look at my dear Lucy, I think of Nanny.
Not that I need a reminder but it is nice to have one, and to think of her when I call, or yell, 'Lucy Jean!'.
There is nothing Nanny was more proud of, or that made her more happy, than her family. And as mine grows and changes I often find myself thinking, or rather commenting on, what Nanny would say, or think.
Today would have been Nanny's 85th birthday, and while we are no longer able to celebrate with her, we will celebrate her and remember fondly all of the time we had together.
She was opinionated, strong-willed, and a regular old nosey parker, but that's what we loved best, that and the fact that she loved us, more than anything.

Happy Birthday, Nanny! We'll have a cup of tea and cake(not chocolate) to celebrate.
